In some English-speaking countries in the Northern Hemisphere, August 1st is Lammas Day (Anglo-Saxon hlaf-mass, "loaf-mas"), the festival of the wheat harvest, and is the first harvest festival of the year. On this day it was customary to bring to church a loaf made from the new crop, which began to be harvested at Lammastide.

Clarborough re-launched the Lammas Festival in 2011 with - quite naturally - a bread-making focus. In 2012 this was developed in a somewhat wider manner to include a range of rural crafts. The following photos give a flavour - much of it apple-based since cider making was a feature!
2014: 3rd August saw something exciting: Lammas celebration is on Sunday 3rd August in Clarborough church. Cream Teas at 14:00 with live music and Thanksgiving with Rev. Mark at 16:00. There was also a Flower Festival and if you want to take part the theme is WW2, or just bring flowers in a vase or for other people to use in their arrangements. Bring your teddy to be launched from the Tower!
